What SOFT ON DEMAND is
SOFT ON DEMAND (ソフト・オン・デマンド, shortened to SOD on its own pages) is a Tokyo adult video maker and the center of a group of companies that handle production, post-production, wholesale and back-office work. The address www.sod.co.jp is its official information site. Its heading presents it as the SOD official information site for finding adult videos and AV actresses, and its own description is an adult information site under SOD's official management that introduces the group's sites, SODprime and Kakubutsu among them, with new-release news and information on its exclusive AV actresses. The group's corporate pages sit on a separate address, corporate.sod.co.jp, and describe the business behind it.
Everything is in Japanese. The pages describe a company based in Nakano, Tokyo, and do not state whether its video is mosaic-censored, do not offer an English version, and show no checkout on this domain. For an English reader the useful part is the map of the group, because the site names who makes what and where the other SOD sites are.
What it carries and how it is organized
The front page is short. It says what the site is, names SODprime and Kakubutsu as places to go, and prints the notifications the company has filed for its video business. It does not list titles, labels or prices, so the catalog itself sits elsewhere. A visitor who wants to buy or stream is pointed onward to the named sites, which the information page introduces by name only.
The company side is much more detailed. The corporate profile sets out the group's companies and their jobs. Soft On Demand (ソフト・オン・デマンド株式会社), founded in November 1995, describes its business as producing original video software and wholesaling it, buying and wholesaling video software and entertainment goods, distributing and licensing video content, and mail order and store operation. SOD Create (SODクリエイト株式会社), founded in March 1999, is described as producing original video software. SOD Artworks, founded in January 2004, handles video editing. SOD Corporate, founded in October 2022, is a back-office outsourcing company. All of them give the same building address in Honcho, Nakano Ward, Tokyo.
SOD Artworks has a page of its own. It calls the company one of the adult industry's leading post-production houses and the bridge between production and sales inside the group. Editing and design specialists work together on the editing and finishing stages of each title, and the page mentions upkeep of editing equipment, use of cloud environments for a faster workflow, and research into new techniques, AI included.
The privacy policy adds the longer group list, written as the companies that jointly use customer data: SOD Create, Soft On Demand, SOD Artworks, SOD Corporate, Silk Labo, HANAYA PROJECT, SAKAYA PROJECT, MARA and 第八制作. The policy names SOD Corporate's legal department as the contact for personal data. It also lists the activities the data is used for, and those are a fair summary of what the group does: content distribution, running a content platform, services on websites, events, services in physical shops, mail order, permission for video appearances and entry to application campaigns, and recruitment.
The corporate home page sums the group up as a company group centered on video content, handling everything from planning and production to sales. Its sections are company information, business areas, privacy and information protection, news notices, recruitment and contact, and it says inquiries go to a separate desk depending on the subject. The business section gives pages to Soft On Demand, SOD Create and SOD Artworks, which is how the site divides the group's work into selling, producing and editing.
The message from the president of SOD Create gives the company's own account of itself. Its title is エロをもっと日常へ, a call to bring the erotic further into everyday life. It says the company has worked since its founding to widen the base of Japanese adult video, reforming the whole chain from production through screening (審査), manufacturing, distribution and sales, in an industry it describes as full of vested interests. It says the company has refused to compromise on production and has tried to come up with concepts that had not existed before, so that customers who kept ending up with duds could reach properly made work more easily. The stated aim is to make the erotic an ordinary part of daily life, something closer to a culture, through what the message calls the company's spirit of craftsmanship. The profile under the message says its author joined SOD as a new graduate in 2004, worked as an AV director and was named president in 2016.
A recruitment site for the group describes it as a video production company that handles planning through production and sales in one chain, and it gives a figure of about 900 titles a year as the company's own claim. It walks through the work as planning, casting, shooting, editing and delivery, follows a producer and a director through a working day, and carries staff interviews from the sales department, including its DVD sales side, the promotion department and the programming department. Its entry section says hiring has closed because the planned number of recruits was reached.
The group also puts its name on physical venues, such as SOD LAND in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, a themed bar-restaurant that its own page says SOD produces, and venues named SOD Cos x Cos in Ikebukuro and Ueno. These are not video products and have nothing to do with buying or streaming a title; they show only how broad the group's brand is. The corporate notices include an August 2023 item announcing that SOD LAND had reopened.
Japan mechanics
The information site is run officially by SOD, and the group's head office is in Nakano, Tokyo. The front page prints its filings: 無店舗型性風俗特殊営業届出済 受理番号:659, a filed notification for a non-store adult entertainment business with its receipt number, and 映像送信型風俗特殊営業届出:東京都公安委員会 第26565号, a notification for a video-transmission adult business filed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission. These are the compliance statements the front page carries. The notices page also lists a December 2025 warning about fake websites and social media fraud that use the company's name and logo without permission.
English is absent. There is no English interface, no subtitle statement, no overseas-access or region rule, and no foreign-customer support line on any of its pages. The privacy policy does speak to cross-border data: it says personal data is not disclosed or provided to third parties located in Japan or abroad without the person's prior consent, except where law allows. The front page bars visitors under 18.
The privacy policy is the most detailed rules page the group publishes. It was established on October 13 of Reiwa 4 and last revised on October 17 of Reiwa 7, in the dating the page uses. Requests to see, correct or stop the use of personal data go by post to SOD Corporate's legal department, with a copy of an official identity document, and only the person concerned can apply; a fee applies to disclosure requests alone. The policy says calls to its inquiry desks may be recorded to check and improve responses, that the group's sites use Google Analytics with cookies, and that the group belongs to no accredited personal information protection organization.
Price, access and billing
The information site itself has no checkout, plan or price, so it asks nothing for entry. The privacy policy lists what the group's services collect at sign-up: name, email address, date of birth, gender and card or other payment details, plus viewing and playback history, and billing and payment status. Among its stated uses of that data are calculating and billing service charges and avoiding duplicate applications. It does not say which payment methods or processors the group's own sites accept, whether foreign cards work, or how subscriptions renew or cancel. Those answers belong to the sister sites.
Who it suits
SOFT ON DEMAND's information and corporate pages suit a reader who wants to understand the group behind the SOD name: which companies exist, what each does, and which named sites to go to next. It is a corporate and information front, not a place to buy or watch. The limits are plain: Japanese only, no catalog, no prices, no stated censorship status, no overseas information, and no payment detail.
