JAV DVD and Blu-ray shops
Physical discs matter in Japan, where many releases reach DVD or Blu-ray and collectors want the sleeve. The shops in this group sell those discs and come in three kinds. Retailers such as Japan Media Direct and Sukeban Alley Japan run English storefronts and deal with buyers abroad. Japanese-language dealers in new and used discs, nairu among them, serve the home market and may limit delivery to Japan. Makers like SILK LABO sell their own titles and send discs to Japanese addresses only. An order from overseas turns on whether the shop ships internationally, how customs treats adult media, and the disc's region code, since Japanese DVDs are Region 2 and Blu-rays are Region A. Discs made for the Japanese market are censored, and the packaging is rarely translated.
