What VIX is

VIX is the web shop of ビデオSHOP ビックス (Video Shop VIX), a seller of used adult DVDs and VHS tapes that carries "SINCE 2000" in the footer of its catalog pages. Its home page describes the stock as everything from adult titles to general Western and Japanese films, and claims 4万本 (40,000 items) in total. Since August 2025 it has operated from its own warehouse as a mail-order business only, and the home page says it cannot deal with customers face to face.

The pages are in Japanese, behind a notice that bars anyone under 18 from the adult sections. The operator is the shop itself; no company parent is named. The only address given is on a buyback page, a street address in Minami ward, Okayama City, which is where customers send items to be bought, and the home page prints 2 phone numbers for orders and buyback. The pages say nothing general about mosaic or uncensored video.

What it carries and how it is organized

The stock is sorted first by maker. A menu lists used adult makers, each with a DVD shelf and a VHS shelf, and a last-updated date next to each, written as month and day (10/09 on the newest ones). The dates carry no year, so the menu does not show how old an update is. A used new-arrivals list sits at the top of the menu, also dated 10/09, and a mailing-list sign-up for new arrivals is linked from the catalog pages. Makers named there include Aroma Kikaku (アロマ企画), TM International, Janes (ジャネス), Dogma, SOD (ソフトオンデマンド), Moodyz (ムーディーズ), Attackers, Idea Pocket, Nikkatsu, and the Shuttle and Giga lines. The home page adds S1 (エスワン), Madonna (マドンナ), Natural High, Cinemagic, Pool Club, Wildside and a long list of smaller houses, then ends with "etc". It also lists the Viderin actress lines (ビデ倫女優) and concept and dance labels. New, unused adult discs are a small separate section (Sakura Kikaku and Milky Cat). A general section holds used Western films, Japanese films, music and sports, plus used VCRs and DVD decks.

Second, the stock is sorted by genre. The genre menu has separate DVD and VHS shelves for Viderin and bookstore-line actress titles, independent-label actress titles, concept and pickup releases, dance and body-con titles, lesbian titles, Western imports (外人・洋ピン), a fetish group that covers big-bust and legs titles, and a bargain shelf (特価品), with further shelves for costume-erotic image discs, adult anime and PC games.

A product search box sits above the menu, and each shelf reports its size: the Aroma Kikaku VHS shelf shows 301 results spread over several pages. Each product card follows the same layout, which helps a reader of Japanese. It shows the title with its maker catalog code in brackets, a regular price, the discounted price with the pre-tax figure in brackets, an order number starting with A-, the label, the media (VHS or DVD), a condition mark (良好◎ on the cards), the stock count and a remark letter such as B or D. Many items have a stock of 1, others a stock of 0 and a sold-out marker in place of the cart button, and a few are flagged as rare (稀少品). The Aroma Kikaku VHS shelf lists tapes from that label's numbered series along with a few from sister labels. The Janes VHS shelf lists tapes under the JNS and Janes labels, with leg and lingerie fetish lines prominent among them. Nothing on the cards names a streaming option, a download or a trailer. This is physical stock, one copy at a time.

Two services sit beside the shelves. The shop offers to hunt for DVDs and videos customers want, including ones it has already sold out, by phone or web form. And it buys: the home page announces high buyback prices for DVDs and says VHS buyback continues, for everything from Viderin titles to independent releases, with popular titles and mania-genre labels named as the ones that fetch higher prices. A buyback page dated 15 July 2022 sets out a past campaign that doubled DVD buyback prices for lots shipped by 30 September 2022. It explains how to apply by form, phone or email and what to send (name, address, phone number, a rough count of items and the shipping date), and it states that VHS prices were not part of the doubling.

The Japan mechanics

VIX is a Japanese shop selling Japanese-market video from Okayama, and the pages state no region lock. They also carry only a thin layer of English. The catalog pages' menu includes a link labeled 海外への発送について with the English words "Dispatch to overseas" beside it, so overseas dispatch is at least addressed. The fees, countries and payment terms for that route are on the linked page, not on the home, catalog or buyback pages. Everything else, including the order guidance, is in Japanese. Support is by telephone, with listed hours of 12:00 to 20:00 and closing on Wednesday and Sunday, by an enquiry email address printed in the catalog footer, and by a web form. Nothing says that support or orders can be handled in English.

The Viderin (ビデ倫) name appears as a maker and actress category label, but the pages make no compliance statement of their own. They do not say whether any disc is mosaic-censored. The home page links a guideline on the handling of personal information and a sitemap, and its news list was still being updated with a New Year greeting dated 2 January 2026.

Price, access and billing

Items are bought one at a time. There is no subscription. Orders go through a cart, a fax or a phone call, and the home page says orders and buyback are also taken by phone. It says payment by credit and debit card is supported through e-コレクト, and the free-shipping line mentions a cash-on-delivery fee, so cash on delivery is offered as well. Delivery can be set to a date and time, and parcels can be held at a Yamato office or a post office counter. Single items can go by post-box mail delivery (ゆうメール) with free shipping. The home and catalog pages do not state a return or cancellation policy, though an order-guidance page (ご注文に際してのご案内) is linked, and they do not say which currencies or foreign cards work.

In October 2026 the Aroma Kikaku VHS shelf showed discounted prices under a running VHS discount, with a regular price shown before each, from 1,000 yen up to 5,500 yen. A typical price was 2,000 yen, shown with 1,900 yen before tax. The shop says an order of 5,000 yen or more ships free and carries no cash-on-delivery fee.

Who it suits

VIX suits a collector in Japan who is hunting for particular tapes or discs from the makers it lists, and who is comfortable ordering in Japanese by phone or form. It also suits anyone with a pile of old Viderin-era DVDs or VHS who wants to sell them. It is a poor fit for a reader who wants streaming, new releases, English pages or a clear overseas price list. The catalog pages still carry a banner for the DVD buyback-doubling campaign, which covered lots shipped up to 30 September 2022, so older notices there are history. Since stock is mostly one copy per title, an item can vanish before an order is placed.
